House on Fire Ruins in the South Fork of Mule Canyon. The ruins
are protected by a large overhang of cedar mesa sandstone.

Close-up of a door way or may simply be a hole in the original
construction. The ruins are well above the creek for protection
from flooding. This construction is of much poorer quality and
badly laid stonework in comparison to the bulk of the ruin.

Image down the line of the ruins shows the overhang in profile.
The goal in photographing the ruins is to arrive around 11:00 AM to get
the most of the reflected light from the rock shelf base of the ruins projected
onto the underside of the overhang.

Close-up view through the ruins. There is a $5.00 access fee
to visit this site payable at a self serve kiosk at the trailhead.

House on Fire Ruins in the South Fork of Mule Canyon. We explored
the area briefly around and above the ruins but found no other
construction. This is a worthy goal and will take at least two
hours to visit properly.
